Orla Bartley
Hi everyone, I’m Orla! I was originally born in Mullingar, Ireland, but have lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years. I’m a junior Psychology major at UD, with minors in Human Development Family Sciences and Medical Social Services. After finishing school, I hope to work as a Child Life Specialist, helping children and families cope with traumatizing medical experiences. My mental health journey has not been a simple one, but I hope to use my experiences and knowledge to help other children and teens going through similar challenges. To me, recovery means giving yourself grace, and working to understand how to support yourself and others in difficult or triggering situations. I have recently started as a Peer Lead here at Sean’s House, and have been volunteering as a Peer Specialist since my freshman year. My experiences at Sean’s House have truly shaped me as a person, as I have been privileged to meet and connect with incredible individuals in our community. I hope to shine my light by continuing to destigmatize discussions surrounding mental health. Aside from working at the house, I spend my time at concerts, watching movies, reading, and traveling. I love seeing new places and learning about different cultures!
