Carolyn Ulsh

Peer24 Lead

Hi! My name is Carolyn (She/Her), and I’m from Elizabethtown, PA. I’m a Senior Psychology major at the University of Delaware with a triple minor in Cognitive Science, Human Development & Family Sciences, and Disability Studies. My journey with mental health started as early as middle school. It was challenging to understand my mental health that young, but I’m grateful to have received the right treatment and strategies to get myself to where I am today. Although it was intimidating at first to receive the specialized therapy I needed for my mental health, it truly changed the trajectory of my recovery journey for the better. Stepping into the role as a Peer24Lead has been nothing short of rewarding as I’m able to help others while also advocating for the needed conversation around mental health. Sean’s House is unique in that the environment itself promotes mental health advocacy and self care, whether it’s by grabbing a quick snack in between classes, spending time with our PAWS dogs, or just chatting with a friend, all are active ways to take care of oneself. Sean’s House serves as a daily reminder to me to be quick to listen, have intentional conversations, embrace community, and know that every story is one worth sharing. When I’m not at Sean’s House, I enjoy being outside, reading, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and doing anything creative! Recovery is not linear, and in times of setback, I practice gratitude, taking a step back to recharge, giving myself grace, and returning to things that bring me peace. For me, that’s my faith, friends and family, and being by the water. Sean’s House is a family, a home, and you are always welcomed here.
