Peer24 Lead

Hi! My name is Kait Davis, I’m a Senior here at the University of Delaware. I am majoring in Psychology with minors in Human Development & Family Science as well as Fashion Culture & History. I am originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania but now live in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I’m looking to pursue a career in holistic based therapy/counseling specializing in assisting adolescents and young adults.

The first time I stopped into Sean’s House I was a guest; struggling with the adjustments to new college life. From my first visit I knew I wanted to become more involved with the SL24 Foundation, and applied for the Winter 2024 Peer Training cohort. I had struggled with anxiety, depression, and rumination in my teen years; and throughout my mental health journey I’ve found it difficult to feel seen/understood by older mental healthcare professionals. At 17 years old I offered to become a peer support in my high school’s counseling office before I even knew what peer support was. Flash forward to now and I have been a certified peer support specialist at Sean’s House for two and a half years and a peer lead for over one of those years. Having been a guest, peer support volunteer, and peer lead has enhanced my confidence in providing mental health support to guests and my overall duties around Sean’s House in such a meaningful way.

Outside of Sean’s House I love spending time with loved ones, being by the water, listening, playing and watching my friends perform music, exercising, traveling, expressing myself through fashion, and making jewelry for my small business.

Recovery to me means knowing that the definition of recovery can change throughout the different seasons of life. There is not one “right” way to recover, and it is not a journey with a final destination. Recovery implements itself into your daily routine and becomes easier as you practice taking care of yourself!!
