Manager of SH Newark

Hi hello! I’m Soph (they/them) and I’m from Milford, DE. I graduated UD in 2025 with a BA in Psychology and am currently a Master’s student with Walden University to get licensure as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I have always believed that mental health is health, and as one of my great friends Erin once told me, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

I was once the kid known for being very outgoing and friendly, always wearing a smile on my face. I kept a lot of my feelings to myself, even from my family. When feelings of depression and anxiety in high school became too loud to ignore, these symptoms manifested physically and people began to notice. I have my brother, friends, parents, and first therapist to thank for the support I received at a time I really needed it. Joining Sean’s House was one way I wanted to give back to the community and help others whose stories are like mine.

My therapist told me that recovery is like a roller coaster. Without the proper tools, recovery feels like the fast, backwards-forwards, loops, drops, and twists kind of roller coasters. On the other hand, having support and tools can make recovery feel more like a baby roller coaster with small hills and turns. Even though I know I’m doing better now with more supportive people around me and helpful tools at my disposal, I still have difficult days–and sometimes weeks. These are the little hills and turns, just small moments that remind me that I am human and struggle is a normal part of change.

Besides work, outside of Sean’s House I spend a lot of time with my friends! We love to watch shows/anime together, play games, play tennis, and just talk. When I’m not with my friends, I’m typically listening to music, singing, dancing, working out, or cooking. I want to learn more about other people’s interests, especially their music taste, and I look forward to meeting new people! If you see me around the house, say hi!
