Alli Burns

Director of Peer Support

Hello! My name is Alli Burns and I am the Director of Peer Support at Sean’s House! I graduated from the University of Delaware in May 2023 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelors of Science in Human Services with honors. I was a four year member of the University of Delaware’s Women’s Rowing team and served as captain my last two years. I hope to continue my education with an additional degree in the field of psychology, and am thankful for the opportunity to continue to gain meaningful experience working at Sean’s House while I navigate the graduate school process. As a student-athlete, I have faced pressure not only from people around me expecting me to perform to a certain caliber, but also from myself and my own standards for myself. While I am incredibly grateful for my experience being a student-athlete, I am also very thankful for the support system I had to help me throughout my time, and for the ability I have gained to talk to others vulnerably about how to handle those types of pressures.

As the Director of Peer Support, I assist with training the new cohorts of Peer24 support specialists and guiding the Peer24 Leads, who manage much of what happens on a daily basis. As a former Peer24 Lead, it means a lot to be able to serve in this role because I know how much of a positive impact being a Peer24 Lead had on me, so I have a lot of passion towards trying to provide that same positive community for others. One fun fact about me is that last summer, I interned in South Africa at an inpatient adolescent treatment center, and while I was there I went bungee jumping! I was in Cape Town for 6 weeks, and was able to travel with my 6 roommates (all who were PT students in Oregon) to the Garden Route, and other fun places in South Africa.
