Emma Cicchiello

Peer 24 Leader

Hi, my name is Emma, and I am a nursing student at the University of Delaware. When I graduate in 2025, I hope to work as a pediatric oncology nurse. I have struggled with OCD, anxiety, and depression all of my life, and while I have met some low points, I have been able to get out and keep going because of my support. Recovering from a mental health crisis may not be linear, but that is okay. Over the course of my life, I have learned that recovery is possible when I advocate for myself and let others around me in to help.

My personal journey in mental health has led me to my role as a peer lead at Sean’s House, giving me the chance to help others struggling like I once was. Although I do not take part in any ensembles at UD, I am a band kid at heart, and I love playing the clarinet and listening to symphonies and musicals. When I’m not at work, in class, or with my friends, I love crocheting and hanging out with my cat, Kylo, who is my pride and joy. The easiest way to get me talking – and get stuck looking at pictures – is to ask how he is doing.
