Erin Fitzgerald

Peer 24 Leader

Hi, my name is Erin Fitzgerald and I am a sophomore Human Services (Pre-Social Work/Counseling) major at the University of Delaware. At Sean’s House, I serve as a Peer Lead. I shine my light here at the house with the work that myself and all of our staff and volunteers do, but I also advocate for others who struggle with mental health and have had similar journeys to mine. It is my work here at the house that inspired my future aspirations. When I graduate in 2026, my goal is to go to graduate school for Clinical Mental Health to become a licensed therapist. My mental health journey started when I was in high school, when I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

For me, recovery means recognizing your growth but also understanding that no healing journey is linear. Giving yourself grace and time is so important to the recovery process, which is something that took me a long time to learn. Outside of Sean’s House, I’m a preschool teacher at a local daycare and am in Pi Beta Phi. Outside of mental health advocacy, some other things I love are getting coffee, going to the gym, going to concerts and music festivals, and traveling! Most recently, I traveled to Italy with my family.
