Jordan Ormsby

Peer 24 Leader

Hi, I am Jordan Ormsby, a senior Health and Behavioral Science major with a minor in Psychology at the University of Delaware. Upon graduation, I plan to earn a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) with a concentration in Child Clinical or Clinical Health Psychology. I hope to use the lived experiences that shaped me and the knowledge I acquire in the course of my studies to become an effective clinician in the eating disorder field. I currently serve as a Peer Lead at Sean’s House, and have been around as a peer support specialist since my first year at UD. I have watched UnLocke the Light blossom in the community from the very start, which has been empowering beyond words. The people I have had the honor of supporting and the individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with have helped me find the light in every chapter of my story.

I am a diligent student and a decorated athlete, yet I have struggled with anxiety and OCD for as long as I can remember, and nearly lost my life to an eating disorder in 2020. Throughout my recovery journey, I have found hope and comfort in knowing that step by step, mile by mile, victory by victory a battle with an eating disorder, anxiety, depression, or any mental health condition can be won, day by day and decision by decision. Every misstep, stumble and period of uncertainty has put me on the path to a fulfilling life worth living, and I hope to help others find the peace I have in choosing recovery each and every day.

Academic and professional endeavors aside, I ran Division 1 Cross Country and Track here at UD. Since my retirement, I have become an avid Soulcycler and am in the process of rekindling my love for running and swimming (especially running beachside and open water swimming). I have four dogs who bring me immense joy, am an avid reader (I annotate all of my books and have my own personal library), run a blog and am a nanny to 3 awesome girls. My family spends our summers at the Delaware beaches, and I can typically be found running or biking around the Rehoboth-Dewey area, reading on the beach or catching waves!
