What is the Accelerated Peer24 Lead Training Program?

The Accelerated Peer24 Lead Training Program is an interactive learning experience designed to prepare individuals to provide peer support at Sean’s House Sussex. Through communication skills workshops, team-based learning activities, hands-on practice, and real-world scenarios, participants gain the knowledge and confidence needed to support young people navigating mental health challenges.

Throughout the training, participants will learn how to thoughtfully draw from their own lived experiences to support others, reduce stigma, promote wellness, and connect guests with helpful resources and support systems.

What is a Peer24 Lead?

A Peer24 Lead is someone who is willing to share their lived experience with behavioral health challenges to support others on their wellness journey. Peer24 Leads help create a welcoming and supportive environment by reducing stigma, encouraging connection, promoting recovery, and linking guests to community resources when appropriate.

Training Overview

The Accelerated Peer24 Lead Training Program is a three-day, in-person training developed by the SL24: UnLocke the Light Foundation. The program combines classroom instruction, interactive discussions, homework assignments, quizzes, and live practice scenarios to provide a comprehensive understanding of peer support and its application within Sean’s House Sussex.

Training Dates

Sean’s House Sussex will offer two initial training sessions:

August 10 – 12, 2026 and September 11 – 13, 2026

*To be eligible for the Peer24 Lead role, participants must attend one training session in its entirety.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • To be eligible to be a Peer24 Lead you must, be at least 18 years of age, have lived experience with a mental health challenge and a personal recovery journey, demonstrate a commitment to supporting peers and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
