Leah Alexander
Hi!! My name is Leah, and I am from New Castle, DE. I am a senior Psychology and Neuroscience major, with a minor in biology. I want to eventually become a child psychiatrist that works in clinical research!
I started working at Sean’s House because I believe deeply in the importance of connection and being able to talk to someone who truly understands what you’re going through. Throughout my own experiences, I’ve seen how powerful it can be to have someone listen without judgment and meet you where you are. Sean’s House’s emphasis on peer support has created a unique space where people can feel understood and less alone. I wanted to be part of this wonderful mission and becoming a Peer Lead has allowed me to serve my community in such a meaningful way.
Outside of Sean’s House, I work as a medical assistant, and am the president of Active Minds, a mental health organization at the University of Delaware. I also love to read and do various crafts, like sewing and crocheting.
I see recovery as a journey that is unique to each person. It cannot exist in isolation, but rather is incumbent upon your support system, your lived experience, and how you choose to see the world around you. Recovery isn’t linear: some days can be harder than others. But recovery is the choice to wake up and believe that each day brings something new and different.
